Finding Help for Childhood Behavior Problems

Managing behavior problems is challenging and many families may find it helpful to meet with a professional for assistance. If using Cooperation Coach by yourself as not provided enough improvement speak with your pediatrician or therapist to find more help. Having an expert ensure that your child's emotions and behaviors are properly understood and diagnoses, and then help you put in place the right plan may help you make more progress than you are able to alone. In addition to your family doctor or current therapist, here are some other resources for finding help.

Resources at Mayo Clinic

Brief therapy within primary care. For families that receive primary care through Mayo Clinic Rochester, brief therapy and further evaluation is available within Primary Care through Integrated Behavior Health (IBH). Families interested meeting with a social worker through IBH should contact their primary care provider.

Specialty Care-Evaluation. For families seeking further evaluation of disruptive behavior to determine the accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, specialty consultation can be requests within Mayo Clinic. Families can call (507) 266-5100 to schedule an appointment.

Specialty Care-Treatment Program. Families that have been assessed and found to be a good fit by Mayo Clinic primary care, integrated behavior health, or psychiatry/psychology can participate in the Behavior Management Orientation Session. This single session covers all behavior strategies, helps parents make a plan to address their concerns, and arranges follow-up appointments.
